From One Cleaner to 30+ People: Our Calgary & Airdrie Story

4 min read

Looking for a local cleaning company in Calgary or Airdrie often starts with a practical question: who are the people coming into my home? At Cleaning Fairy, the answer begins with a small local business that we built from scratch.

Three years ago, we started as an independent cleaner. Today, our wider team includes more than 30 people. That growth has brought more colleagues and more responsibility, while keeping the hands-on understanding of cleaning that started the business.

Local roots, a team across several cities

Calgary and Airdrie are part of our story from the beginning. Today, we also have a field team in Vancouver, working under the Cleaning Fairy Vancouver name. Our cleaners work in the communities they serve, supported by colleagues who help keep the wider company connected.

Some team members work remotely from Manitoba, including Winnipeg, and from Toronto. Alongside our onsite teams in Calgary, Airdrie and Vancouver, these colleagues are part of the same company, helping us stay connected as we grow.

Professional training continues as we grow

We hold professional training and team learning sessions regularly, alongside on-the-job guidance. Training is how we turn an individual person's cleaning experience into a shared way of working. A new colleague needs to understand both how to complete a task and when to ask a question.

  • Cleaning standards and sequence: use the checklist, agree on priorities and work through the booked scope methodically.

  • Products, surfaces and equipment: check instructions and material suitability before choosing a method; ask when something is unfamiliar.

  • Communication: understand the client's preferences, pass on important instructions and raise questions about extra work before proceeding.

  • Quality review: check the finished areas, learn from feedback and use field-management support when follow-up is needed.

A friendly atmosphere matters, but so does professional responsibility. We want colleagues to feel comfortable asking for help, discussing a difficult task and learning from one another. Growth means continuing to improve the way we work, rather than assuming experience alone answers every question.

What that means for your Calgary or Airdrie cleaning

Whether a client needs regular home cleaning or a more detailed deep clean, the basics matter: understanding the instructions, using appropriate equipment and paying attention to the rooms that were agreed. A team structure gives the cleaner a company contact and gives the client a place to bring questions or feedback.

Our cleaning team consists of trained employees and is insured. Supplies and equipment are included. Field management supports quality checks and follow-up, giving colleagues and clients a clear point of contact.

An international team that feels like one big family

Our team brings together people from different countries, backgrounds and working experiences. What connects us is the wish to do good work, support one another and build something together. We are proud of the friendships that have grown alongside the business.

For us, being one big team means making room for questions, helping a colleague learn a new task and treating each other with respect. Team meetings and shared learning give people a chance to exchange practical experience, even when our day-to-day roles are different.

The work behind the visit

A cleaning company is more than the people visible at the doorstep. Field and remote colleagues need to share instructions, understand priorities and keep communication clear. Their roles are different, but their work supports the same customer experience.

We remember what it was like to build the business one booking at a time. That perspective is why we value the people doing the work and why we keep investing time in learning together.
