When to Book Post-Renovation Cleaning in Vancouver
Book the final post-renovation clean after dust-producing work is finished, major debris has been removed and the relevant finishes are ready for cleaning. Use your contractor's handover plan and product care instructions to choose the date. There is no universal waiting period that is right for every paint, sealant, floor or renovation project.
Cleaning Fairy Vancouver can help plan the cleaning scope, but the people installing or finishing the materials need to confirm when those surfaces are ready. If trades return to sand, cut or drill after cleaning, affected areas may need another visit.

Start with the remaining trade work
Before requesting a date, ask your contractor what will still happen in the home. “Almost finished” may still include sanding touch-ups, cabinet adjustments, drilling fixtures or moving materials through the rooms. Those activities can change both the cleaning sequence and the final result.
Confirm who removes construction waste, tools and leftover materials. Cleaning a home's surfaces is different from hauling renovation debris. Send photos showing the current condition and tell us whether the project affects one room or the entire property.
Confirm that new finishes can be cleaned
Ask the installer or manufacturer when each new surface may be cleaned.
Keep the care instructions for paint, flooring, counters, cabinetry and glass.
Identify delicate coatings, unfinished surfaces and areas that must not be wetted or scrubbed.
Tell the team about adhesive residue, protective films or marks that need a specialist decision.
Do not assume a product is suitable simply because it worked on the old surface. New finishes may have different restrictions, and installation marks are not always removable dirt. Share the instructions with the booking contact before cleaning day.
Separate rough work from the final clean
Stage | Confirm before proceeding |
Trade work | Dust-producing tasks are complete in the cleaning area |
Site preparation | Waste, tools and loose materials have been removed |
Surface readiness | Installed finishes are ready for the proposed cleaning |
Cleaning visit | Access, utilities, scope and priorities are agreed |
Handover | Time remains for review and any separately arranged work |
For a phased renovation, tell us which rooms are ready and which remain active. A clean room beside ongoing work may be affected again. Decide whether a staged visit or a final visit best fits your project rather than expecting one appointment to cover every stage.
Give the team a precise scope
Describe the dust and surfaces involved, including accessible trim, shelves, cabinet interiors and floors you want addressed. Say whether the home is empty or furnished and whether personal belongings need protection or have already been moved.
Mention window work separately. Window cleaning requires its own scope and quotation, and specialist carpet or upholstery steam cleaning is also quoted separately. HVAC work, renovation repairs and tasks involving uncertain residues should be referred back to the appropriate trade or specialist before the cleaning plan is finalised.
Leave space before furniture and move-in
Where your schedule permits, arrange cleaning before furniture delivery and unpacking. Confirm parking, building entry, elevator requirements and a contact who can answer questions about the renovation. Keep water and electricity available.
If a contractor's completion date changes, contact the cleaning team promptly to review the appointment. A date on the calendar does not make a still-active worksite ready for its final clean.
Post-renovation cleaning questions
Can I book before all the painting is finished?
Discuss a staged visit if useful, but the final clean should be coordinated with remaining work and the finish instructions. Painting or sanding afterwards may create more work.
Is there a standard number of days to wait after painting?
No single interval applies to every product and surface. Get the applicable instructions from the manufacturer or painting contractor.
Will a regular cleaning booking cover renovation dust?
Describe the renovation when requesting service. The condition and detailed scope need to be planned as post-renovation work.
