Move-Out Cleaning in Vancouver: Ready to Hand Over the Keys?
Move-out cleaning in Vancouver is one more demanding task on a day already filled with packing, movers, building access and key handover. A room can look empty while the oven, refrigerator drawers, cabinet shelves and bathroom edges still need hours of work.
Cleaning Fairy Vancouver handles that detailed work so you can put your energy into the move. Use the checks below to see whether the home is ready for a final walkthrough, then send us your property details for a personalized quote.

Original move-out cleaning photographs supplied by Cleaning Fairy illustrate the areas discussed in this guide.
Why move-out experience matters
Across Cleaning Fairy's operations, our teams complete around five to six move-out cleanings each day. Maintaining that pace every day for a 365-day year would mean approximately 1,825–2,190 cleanings.
Cleaning Fairy Vancouver draws on that company-wide experience. We work with realtors and property managers as well as tenants and homeowners, planning the vacant-property clean around the property and its handover requirements.
We use standardized cleaning checklists, then match the visit to the property and the handover instructions you provide. There is no need to guess whether your landlord, property manager or buyer wants a particular area addressed: share their checklist before the appointment so the scope is clear.
Before a Vancouver handover: check these six zones
1. Oven, stovetop and range hood
Open the oven door and check the cavity, door glass and racks, not just the exterior. Look at the stovetop edges, control area, backsplash and accessible range-hood surfaces. Baked-on food and grease can take much longer to address than a quick surface wipe.
Oven interiors are part of our agreed move-out scope. A heavily soiled cavity can need at least 30 minutes of hands-on work, plus racks, and may take longer. We choose the method from the appliance instructions and product label. Blue enamel alone does not prove that a particular chemical or self-clean cycle is suitable.

2. Refrigerator, freezer and removable parts
Empty the refrigerator and freezer before the appointment. Check shelf edges, drawers, door bins and seals, where crumbs and residue can remain after the main shelves look clean. Removable parts need careful handling and a model-appropriate cleaning method.
Include the accessible area behind and underneath the refrigerator and range in the plan. Heavy, connected or difficult appliances need safe arrangements; our team will not pull them out blindly or disconnect utilities. Let us know about access restrictions when requesting the quote.

3. Cabinets, drawers and closets
Open every cupboard and drawer that is included in the handover. Check the back corners, shelf surfaces, handles and cabinet fronts. Empty closets also expose dusty rails and shelves that were hidden by clothing.

Cleaning works best when these storage areas are already empty. Sorting belongings, packing boxes or deciding what to discard uses additional time and should be discussed separately from the vacant-property cleaning.
4. Bathrooms: more than the mirror
Check the toilet base and the floor behind it, vanity drawers, sink edges, shower glass and bathtub surfaces. Soap residue, hair and dust still need detailed attention even where the visible glass looks fairly clear. Send close-up photos of stubborn buildup so it can be allowed for in the estimate.

5. Baseboards, doors, vents and interior glass
Look down at baseboards and up at reachable vent covers. Check door handles, switches, trim, window sills and interior glass in the agreed scope. These details are easier to see once the furniture and curtains no longer hide them.
Tell us about high fixtures, blinds, extensive wall washing or other special requirements beforehand. Access, surface condition and the work requested affect what can be completed safely in the planned visit. Cleaning cannot repair damaged finishes.
6. Floors, edges and the final route out
Check floor edges, corners, closets and the entryway after the movers have finished. Vacuuming and mopping should be planned after the detailed work so the exit route is not immediately covered with fresh dust or footprints.
Carpet vacuuming and carpet steam cleaning are different services. If steam cleaning is required, tell us before booking: our carpet team provides a separate quote and appointment arrangement. Do not assume it is included in the house-cleaning hourly rate.
How many working hours should you plan?
The size of the home is a starting point; condition and the checklist determine the actual work. These are typical planning estimates from our move-out experience:
Property | Starting labour-time estimate |
Small apartment | Around 6 labour-hours |
House of about 1,500 sq ft or larger | From 8 labour-hours; more as size and condition require |
Labour-hours are the combined working time of the employees. Two employees working for three hours each provide six labour-hours. Eight labour-hours might mean two employees working for about four hours each, but team size and task order are confirmed for your booking.
Extra bathrooms, heavy grease, pet hair, extensive buildup, difficult access and additional requested tasks can increase the time. These figures are not a guaranteed finish time or a fixed-price package. Send photos and your handover deadline so we can estimate the job rather than promise an unrealistically short visit.
Plan around movers, building access and the walkthrough
For a Vancouver apartment or condo, tell us about fob or key collection, parking, any building rules affecting access, and the time by which the unit must be ready. If an elevator booking affects the move, plan cleaning after the movers and boxes are out, with a clear window before the walkthrough. These details matter as much as the bedroom count.
Remove furniture, belongings, food and moving boxes before the cleaning.
Keep water and electricity available and provide clear entry instructions.
Send your landlord's, property manager's or sale-handover checklist in advance.
Arrange the final walkthrough after the planned cleaning window.
What Google reviewers say about move-out cleaning
The Vancouver Google profile had a 5.0/5 rating from 17 reviews when checked in October 2026. One review explicitly describes professional move-out cleaning by Yuliia and a colleague and praises the result.
In a review dated September 1, 2026, Ednowin C describes a move-out clean by two team members and notes the time spent on the work. A review reflects that customer's experience; the time needed for your home depends on your own property and scope.
An employee team, supplies included, and time-based pricing
Cleaning Fairy Vancouver provides an insured employee team with professional cleaning supplies and equipment included. A single one-time visit is CAD $60 per labour-hour. The CAD $49 per labour-hour rate applies when you book at least one additional cleaning of any type. GST is extra.
There is no separate oven-cleaning surcharge: the oven is accounted for through the labour time it takes. Your quote should cover the home size, condition, agreed checklist and any separate services. Carpet steam cleaning is handled by a separate team and quote.
Frequently asked questions
How long does move-out cleaning take?
Allow around six labour-hours for a small apartment and eight or more labour-hours for a house of about 1,500 sq ft or larger. These are starting estimates, not fixed completion times. Condition, bathrooms, appliance interiors and the agreed checklist affect the actual labour needed.
Does six labour-hours mean six hours in my home?
Not necessarily. Six labour-hours means six hours of work by one employee, or about three hours each for two employees. Team size, access and the work sequence affect elapsed time. Confirm your expected appointment duration when booking.
Should the property be empty before cleaning?
Yes. Arrange the cleaning after furniture, belongings and moving boxes have been removed and movers and repair work have finished. Keep utilities available, provide access instructions and share your handover checklist in advance.
Are oven and fridge interiors part of move-out cleaning?
Yes. Plan for the oven cavity and racks, refrigerator and freezer interiors, and stove exterior in the agreed move-out scope. Access behind and underneath appliances depends on safe arrangements; connected or heavy appliances are not moved unsafely. Carpet steam cleaning is quoted separately.
Can cleaning guarantee the return of my deposit?
No. Cleaning addresses the agreed cleaning scope. The deposit or handover decision can involve condition, damage, documentation and the applicable agreement, so we do not guarantee a deposit outcome.
